I’m sure most of you will know the wiring rules AS/NZS3000:2007 are about to be updated. We expect to see the new version available in April. This is first re-work of this standard since 2007, (eleven years ago).
So it fair to say the wiring of electrical installations will soon be governed by a new set of rules. The new 2016 Wiring Rules AS/NZS 3000 were developed by Standards Australia and industry experts, and compliance will be mandatory shortly after introduction. With 600+ pages and 200+ changes, The new Wiring Rules will remain in two parts in a single volume but will have 30% more information.
There is not a lot of information available about the extent and complexity of the expected changes, but there is a summary document which you can click here to download.
It is also expected that the Electricity Safety Regulations will be updated to reflect the changes to the wiring rules.
